Government's decision: Beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat Yojana will get free PVC card

The government on Friday waived the Rs 30 charge on the card

Beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) can now purchase their eligibility for free.  The government on Friday waived the Rs 30 charge on the card.  This charge had to be paid to the beneficiaries at the Common Service Center.  However, if the card is lost, a charge of Rs 15 excluding tax has to be paid for issuing or reprinting a duplicate card.

The National Health Authority (NHA) has entered into an agreement with the Common Service Centers (CSCs) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.  Due to which people will now get Ayushman Bharat Entitlement Card for free.  Under this agreement, the beneficiaries will now get PVC Ayushman card and its delivery will also be easier.

Printing on PVC will make this card easier to maintain

According to the government, the Ayushman card PMJAY is available at any hospital, however it is issued for free and will continue to be issued for free.  According to NHA CEO Ramsevak Sharma, the card will replace the paper card.  Printing on PVC will make it easier to maintain this card and the beneficiary of the ATM can easily keep it anywhere in his purse or pocket.

A card is not required to avail the scheme

This card is not mandatory for availing the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, but it is part of the mechanism for identifying and verifying beneficiaries to ensure that patients receive health services without difficulty and to prevent any malpractice and fraud.

There will be treatment anywhere in the country

According to Ramsevak Sharma, getting these cards for free will benefit the poor.  With this card you can go to any hospital anywhere in the country and get treatment for free.

Under the MoU, it has been decided that the National Health Authority (NAH) will have to pay a fixed amount of Rs 20 to the Common Service Center (CSC) for issuing AYUSHMAN card for the first time only.
