In Mahila Jan Dhan Bank account ,The second installment of Rs 500 will be deposited from Monday

The second installment of Rs 500 will be available to Mahila Jan Dhan Bank account holders from Monday, the finance ministry said in a statement. The announcement was made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram in March.


To help the poor in the wake of the Koro epidemic, the government announced on March 8 that Rs 500 would be deposited in the accounts of Mahila Jan Dhan Bank account holders for the next three months.

Financial Services Secretary Debashish Panda said on Twitter that Rs 500 has been deposited in the bank accounts of women account holders of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana in May under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan package.

As per the scheme decided by the government, Rs 500 will be credited to the accounts of the account holders whose last digit is 0 or 1 on May 9. The last digit of the account is 3 or 4, the amount will be credited to their account on May 5. Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is the National Financial Inclusion Mission which ensures access to financial services namely, banking / savings and deposit accounts, remittances, loans, insurance, pensions in an affordable manner.

The account can be opened at any bank branch or business representative (bank friend) outlet. PMJDY accounts are being opened with zero balance. However, if the account holder wants to check the book, he / she has to meet the minimum balance criteria.

  • Documents required for opening an account under Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana
  • If AADHAAR card / AADHAAR number is available then no other documents are required. Self-authentication of the current address is sufficient if the address has changed.
  • If Aadhaar card is not available then one of the following officially valid documents (OVD) will be required: voter identity card, driving license, PAN card, passport and NREGA card. If your address is also present in these documents, it can serve as both "identity and proof of address".
  • If a person does not have the above mentioned “valid government documents” but is classified as ‘low risk’ by the bank, he / she can open a bank account by submitting one of the following documents:

Identity card with photo of the applicant issued by Central / State Government Departments, Statutory / Regulatory Authorities, Public Sector Undertakings, Scheduled Commercial Banks and Public Financial Institutions;
Letter issued by Gazetted Officer with duly attested photograph of the said person.
